Pakistani Wedding History

December is wedding time in Pakistan, and the country goes every out with a few weeks of activities that culminate in Nikkah–the filing of the marriage contract. During this time, millions of Pakistanis who live overseas come household to commemorate with family and friends.

A Dholki, a pre-event that occurs one or two weeks before the main events, is where guests dance to standard roller dholak beats. The bride’s hands and feet are decorated with complicated henna models, followed by the Mehndi, which is then followed by singing and dancing.

In the Mehndi, the wedding and his home spend for the occasion. Afterwards, the bride’s home hosts her Valima festival where they serve a variety of food and drinks to customers. This includes hen, mutton, sushi and pulao along with several sweets. Jahez, the money items, are often moreover served. Depending on the family, they may either be used as part of the bride’s saadi ( wedding ) or kept as an asset for the future.

The bride’s household asks for her hand in marriage and offers a circle at the Magni, or engagement group, the following time. After the bride’s relatives accepts the proposal, the couple can legally wed! The Rukhsati, where the bride leaves her parents ‘ home to join her husband’s family, frequently brings tears of joy and sadness with it. It is the final stage of a Pakistani wedding.
